When we think of protective hairstyles, we think of styles that not only protect your hair from harsh environmental factors, but also things we're doing to do our own hair, a.k.a. heat styling, chemical treatments, tight styles that pull on the scalp, etc. Give your mane a break and try out one of our favorite protective hairstyles for the summer:

Not only are box braids great for cutting down on time to get ready in the mornings, but they're also a great protective hairstyle. These braids are great for giving your hair a break from heat styling, daily wear and tear, and also great if you're transitioning from relaxed hair to natural hair.
Scrunchies, Scrunchies, Scrunchies

Scrunchies are a hair's best friend. We all need to throw our hair up sometimes, but if you're going to do it, try to make sure you use a scrunchie! The majority of the damage of hair ties comes from pulling them out of your hair. With scrunchies, the softer fabric around the tie creates padding against your hair, making it more gentle.
Scarf It Up
