Did you know that self-care translated actually means "face mask"? Kidding... Sort of. Something about getting in some comfy clothes and putting on a face mask just really makes us feel rejuvenated and replenished. You know who agrees with us? Our favorite IG beauty guru, @Dirtyboysgetclean! That's why we got the 411 on all of his absolute must-have face masks for the summer season. Whether your skin is dry, blemish-prone, oily, rough, dull, etc. you're definitely going to want to take notes!
Let's face it, one of the best ways to unwind and practice #SelfCare is to mask. Laying back and watching your favorite TV show with a mask on is just magical (glass of wine totally optional....). Masking is something that I like to do year-round. I do think that we should adjust the type of masks we use for each season, or depending on your skin's condition. For example, I have dry skin but in the summer I do tend to use more clay/purifying masks whereas in the winter I am all about hydration all the time. Let's take a look at a few of my favorite clean beauty masks to use during the summertime!
Whipped Mud Mask Argan Hydrating & Detoxifying Treatment by Josie Maran ($48)
Don't let the heat and humidity fool you - you still need to be hydrating your skin! This mask works to hydrate while also detoxifying. It has argan oil in it to nourish the skin while Moroccan rhassoul clay and volcanic ash rejuvenates, tones, and detoxifies the skin. One of the best things about this mask is that it is unscented. So, if you are sensitive to fragrances this is perfect for you! It also is great if you don't have much time to mask because it only needs to stay on for 5-10 minutes!
Tight & Bright Clay Multi-Mask by ($40)
Two face masks for the price of one? Umm... How do you say "yes" in every language possible? Let us know. In this dual mask, one side is Purple Detoxifying & Purifying Exfoliating Mask. You put this on any areas that are oily, blemish-prone, etc. The second mask is Gold Hydrating & Firming Gel Mask. This is going to go on the more delicate areas that might be a bit more dry, etc. I feel like this is such a great mask for summer because it has two parts that can be customized to only the areas you need them. I actually like to use them both all over the face back to back. My skin always feels extremely clean and happy after.
Resurfacing Mask by Tata Harper ($65)
This mask is essentially a powerhouse in a jar. It instantly restores radiance and helps with blocked pores, dull and rough skin. It has a light gel-like texture that makes it perfect for summer usage. It contains BHA and enzymes to help give your skin back the glow it needs year-round. This is perfect for those with dry, dull, oily, and blemish-prone skin.
Mermaid Mask by Leahlani ($38)
Not only does the name of this mask scream #SummerVibes, but its actually packed with the most gorgeous ingredients. It is a superfood purifying mask that is like a smoothie for the face. It contains soil and nectar from Hawaii and is meant to nourish, clarify, purify, soften, and renew. This mask is perfect for the summer because it is refreshing and, in my opinion, has healing qualities thanks to the raw honey. This is definitely one of the masks I reach for most often in the hot summer months!
Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask by REN ($56)
If you want to truly renew your skin's radiance during summer (And all year), this is the mask for you. I have gone through so many bottles of this mask because it IS that great! This mask is going to brighten, firm, and tighten pores. What I love about this mask is there is no irritation, just beautiful results. It is also a 10-minute mask so anyone can do it no matter how busy you are!
Advanced Hydration Mask by Josh Rosebrook ($65)
One of the most common misconceptions about masking in the summer months is that your skin doesn't need hydration. Simply not true - our skin loves to be nourished year-round. I love this mask because it's incredibly hydrating and nourishing. This is so perfect as a weekly repair mask for your skin. It contains aloe vera and a ton of beautiful plant oils and nutrients for the skin. I love leaving this mask on for 30 minutes and really let it soak into the skin before removing. Sometimes I just tissue-off any excess and use it as a sleep mask for my skin.
Generally, most people are more active outdoors during the summer and the sun can take its toll on your beautiful skin so be sure to protect it with SPF daily in addition to nourishing it with masking. There are so many beautiful masks out there for you to choose from no matter your skin type. I hope that you find the perfect mask for you to use all summer long!
